Splendour In The Grass Says GTFO To Punters Hiring Sexist Camper Vans

Splendour In The Grass organisers have taken a stand against sexism by warning punters that camper vans spray-painted with misogynistic slogans won’t be welcome at this year’s event.

The now sold-out festival has posted a warning on its website, advising fans: “If you’re booking a campervan, please steer clear of sexist slogans! You know who you are. It’s 2016. Get with the program.”

And while Splendour hasn’t gone into any further detail, it’s believed they just might be alluding to popular van rental company Wicked Campers, who TBH have some pretty f’n cool designs. But said f ‘n cool designs are often – sadly – also mixed in with some trademark slogans including gross stuff like this:

And even grosser stuff like this:

Always fun driving past that one with your 7-year-old sister in the backseat.

Back in 2014, Wicked Campers owner John Webb bowed to pressure from a public petition of over 100,000 signatures and conceded to “mak[e]a commitment over the coming six months to chang[e] slogans of an insensitive nature”.

But, as Questions For Us points out, there are still tonnes of vans on the road splashed with messages which could be considered sexist.

E.g. this one, which was snapped just last month.

And Wicked Campers have apparently told FasterLouder that they’re “almost fully booked for Splendour”.

So whether organisers’ anti-sexism warning sticks remains to be seen.
