Surfer Blood Dropping New Album ‘Pythons’ This June

It’s going to be a big couple of months for Florida band Surfer Blood. Not only have the crew been added to the massive Splendour In The Grass lineup for July 2013, but they have also announced plans to drop their new record Pythons just a month beforehand.

Pythons will be the first release from the band facilitated through a major label, so this is no small affair, and teaming up with Warner for the album is going to ensure they to make a hell of a splash around release time. On account of how friggin’ awesome their previous album, Astro Coast was, there are many ears and eyes pointed in Surfer Blood’s direction at the moment, but as per the maiden single from the new album, Demon Dance, matching the hype should be no issue for Pythons.

Tastemakers seem to be in overwhelming agreement that Surfer Blood are rad, some even going as far as to label them “America’s best new pop band” (NPR’s All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen). They sure as hell made an impression on Aussie fans when they were last in town for Splendour back in 2010. Now with a stint at SXSW under their belt and a North American tour with Foals on the horizon, they are sure to be in tip top shape to once again blow our minds.

Pythons, comin’ atcha Friday, 14th June.
