Tame Impala, Troye Sivan & More Nominated For 2016 MTV Video Music Awards

MTV has released its list of 2016 Video Music Awards nominations for the official ceremony on Sunday, 28th August at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The awards are notorious for drama both on and off the stage, with, among other things, last year’s awards seeing Kanye West announce his candidacy for the 2020 US Presidential election, while Justin Bieber burst into tears spawning one of the most useful gifs of all time.

What this year’s awards will bring is anyone’s guess, but there is no doubting that Beyoncé‘s visual album Lemonade will be the centre of attention – with Queen B securing no less than 11 nominations for the work. Adele secured a notable eight nominations, while Tame Impala gained a nomination for Best Direction, Troye Sivan is in the running for the Breakthrough Long Form Video gong and Sia’s Cheap Thrills is up for Best Female Video.
