The Getaway Plan Lose Bassist, Go Independent And Announce New Material

In one fell swoop, Australian post-hardcore figures The Getaway Plan have announced that they will be parting ways with their management, their record label and their bassist, though it appears the various splits haven’t slowed them down any, promising fans new material and a tour in the coming months.

In their Facebook post, the band confirm that there is currently no bad blood between them and now former bass player Dave Anderson, wishing him all the best with future endeavors and thanking him for his years of service. Never ones to mess around, TGP have already confirmed his replacement will be longtime friend Jase Clarke.

The split from their label UNFD and their management is also addressed in the statement, with the band seemingly confident in their decision to begin life as an independent act for the first time in 9 years. Their first task will be releasing a forthcoming, self-funded Double A-side single Lovesick/Mirrors. The release will be primarily digital but the band has revealed a limited run 500 copies will be printed. The single is expected to be released this August on iTunes.

To really drive all this news home, TGP will be hitting the road come August and September for a run of headlining national tour dates. The Lovesick tour locations have been confirmed, you can check these out above the statement.

The Getaway Plan Facebook statement

Holy shit.

To say the past few months have been busy for TGP is a gross, gross understatement.

We have so many things to announce that it’s hard to know where to start…

Firstly- Dave Anderson and TGP have made the decision to part ways. Dave was an integral part of the growth of this band and we thank him dearly for everything that he’s done. We wish him the best in all of his future endeavours. All is amicable between us all and we hope to remain friends forever. Taking the reigns will be one of our best friends, Jase Clarke. We’ve known Jase for a long time and couldn’t think of a more perfect human to welcome to the family. Jase has already brought so much new life to the party and we couldn’t be more excited about our future with him.

Secondly- We will be releasing 2 brand new songs on a Double A-Sided single this August titled ‘Lovesick/Mirrors’. After recently parting ways with our record label/management, this release will be our first ever attempt to go out and do something on our own. It’s been a hectic experience pulling everything together with such short notice (we only decided to do this a few weeks ago), but it’s been equally as rewarding and we can’t wait to share these new tracks with you all. The A-Side will be available on iTunes in August. We will NOT be pressing CD’s. However, we will be pressing a run of 500 hand-numbered, limited edition, 7 ” vinyls. We have a few rad colours/options available, but everything is EXTREMELY limited. We expect that they will not last very long at all. Head to our web-store to check out the options and pre-order your copy now- http://store.thegetawayplan.com/

Thirdly- We will be hitting the road this August/September on the LOVESICK tour. We know we’ve been distant on the tour front these past 12 months so to make up for it we’ve done our absolute best to cover as much Australian soil as we can. We’re very much looking forward to seeing you all. Visit http://www.thegetawayplan.com/ for a list of dates. If your town isn’t listed keep an eye out as we’ll be announcing more shows in the coming weeks.

Lastly- As mentioned before, we recently split ways with our record label and management, We Are Unified. We are currently an independent band and we’re loving every second of it. This is the first time in over 9 years that we have been in complete control of every aspect of the band and it feels truly awesome. We have no one to answer to but ourselves and we feel more resilient than ever before. This new release is completely self-funded and organised by us, and whilst the workload involved has been big, the rewarding feeling that comes with it has been even bigger. We have no idea where we see ourselves label wise in the future, but for now we are going to ride this wave and see where we end up.

Stay tuned over the next month as there are plenty more announcements to come.

Peace and love to you all.

– TGP
