Green Day have been posting regular video updates from in the studio lately; The band are currently recording their ninth studio album.
They’ve been writing new tracks for the new album for a while now, and Billie Joe had been talking of a new album since 2010: “We did some demos in Berlin, some in Stockholm, some just outside of Glasgow and some in Amsterdam. We wanted to get [the songs] down in some early form.” They also played new material at a secret show in August last year, though it’s not sure if they will appear on the new album or not.
Their last and arguably most popular album 21st Century Breakdown was released in 2009. Rolling Stone described the new tracks as a departure from their politically-charged previous effort.
