Now probably one of Russia’s most internationally recognised musical exports Pussy Riot have now been immortalised in animation. Creators of South Park have tipped their hat to the embattled protesters, featuring them in a recent episode.
You may have missed the full episode, which aired over Halloween, but thanks to Diffuser we’ve got the exact scene below. In it you’ll find the classic South Park end of an episode, with a mass-realisation that the whole town’s been doing something stupid, probably with Randy in, or close to, the epicentre. This time, however, Jesus tells the people: “Causes should not be worn on our wrists with a sneer. Let’s keep our causes where they belong, which is right here, on T-shirts. Free Pussy Riot!”, before revealing that he is wearing a pro-Pussy Riot T-shirt.
This is just the latest of high profile figures to make note of the band’s struggle. The ever-growing list includes Peaches, Madge, Green Day, and even our mate Julian Assange.
With one member free, and two still behind bars, the situation is slowly untangling, but it is still a long road ahead for all members involved, whose hard yards as an upcoming band have been a little…well…harder than most.
