Watch Robbie Miller’s Stripped Back Cover Of Odesza For ‘Like A Version’

Written by Zanda Wilson on July 8, 2016

Brisbane singer-songwriter Robbie Miller came into the triple j studio this morning to perform a cover and an original for ‘Like A Version.’

The Aussie muso launched into a stripped back re-imagination of US electro duo Odesza‘s track Say My Name (featuring Zyra) from their 2014 LP In Return. Miller took a lot of the emphasis off the prominent synths and bass from the original, instead making his own understated vocals the centrepiece of the cover.

Minimal accompaniment came in the form of a hit pad, keys and a softly building synth, allowing Miller to show off his breathtaking vocal range and tone, peaking with a crescendo and an almost-unbelievably perfect falsetto.

While in the studio, Miller also performed a live version of his original The Pain, accompanied by a single pianist.
