Yeasayer To Start On New Album?

A year or so on and the world is still in thrall to the second Yeasayer album, Odd Blood, truly an album that keeps on giving. Now murmurs are emerging that the Brooklyn band are about to head into the studio to record the follow-up.

At the moment, Consequence of Sound are the only ones picking up on the story. They cite a press release stating that the band will start recording at the end of their current US tour, which wraps up in July. They already have several new songs ready to go.

Yeasayer have been the busiest band around since Odd Blood was released in February 2010, constantly touring, and now with the end of that period in sight it seems the band still aren’t going to take a break. A good thing.

As previously reported, last month Yeasayer put out a limited edition 7″ containing tracks from the Odd Blood sessions that didn’t make it on to the final album. The songs, Phoenix Wind and Swallowing the Decibels, are now also available digitally.

Consequence of Sound also reports on forthcoming new albums from Grizzly Bear and the Walkmen.

To mark the news of possible new Yeasayer material, let us return to their first record, All Hour Cymbals:
