Lana Del Rey Shares Heartbreaking Song She Just Wrote About America’s Mass Shooting Epidemic

Like most normal people, Lana Del Rey has been left absolutely horrified by the latest mass shootings to rock the US (ICYMI, 31 people were killed on the weekend after two separate gunmen opened fire on civilians — one inside a Texas shopping centre, the other at an Ohio nightclub — within hours of each other) and is baffled that the government continues to do nothing to clamp down on gun ownership and prevent further massacres.

However, unlike most normal people, Lana Del Rey also possesses superhuman musical abilities, and she’s used them respond to the tragedy by getting super-producer Jack Antonoff on the blower and into the studio to record a beautiful and deeply affecting impromptu song that she just had “on her mind”.

It’s dubbed ‘Looking For America’, and my god will it hit you hard in the feels.

“Now I know I’m not a politician and I’m not trying to be so excuse me for having an opinion,” Del Rey writes alongside a video of her performing the achingly bittersweet track live in the studio, as Antonoff strums along gently on a fuzzy guitar.

“But in light of all of the mass shootings and the back to back shootings in the last couple of days which really affected me on a cellular level I just wanted to post this video…”

It comes ahead of the release of the popstar’s mega-hyped new album Norman Fucking Rockwell at the end of the month, and fans are already clamouring for her to release it as a single.
