Flying Lotus Is Bringing A Fiery 3D Live Show To Australia Next Year And It Sounds Wild

Electronic mastermind Flying Lotus will return to Australia for the first time in almost half a decade early next year, bringing an immersive 3D live show to local audiences including a headline performance at MONA FOMA in Tasmania.

The production – a joint project between FlyLo and 3D Live – scored ‘Tech Enhancement of the Year’ at this year’s Pollstar Awards, takes viewers into a three-dimensional “kaleidoscope of pulsing colours, textures and imagery” created by long-time collaborators Strangeloop and Timeboy.

It sounds bloody wild, and while FlyLo has spent the past couple years touring the show around the globe, the producer points out that no two shows are ever the same, with live improvisation on both the audio and visual front.

It’s hard to say exactly what it’ll look like, but fans at least have an idea what it’ll sound like. FlyLo released latest album Flamagra earlier this year, his first since 2014’s You’re Dead!, and these shows have been refined specifically for the album.

A jazz-funk odyssey which thematically centres around “an eternal flame sitting on a hill”, the producer got the likes of Anderson .Paak, Denzel Curry, Tierra Whack, Toro y Moi, Thundercat and even David Lynch to appear on the record.
