Kylie Minogue And Family Donate $500K To Bushfire Relief Efforts

Australian star Kylie Minogue, along with sister Danii and her family have donated $500,000 to bushfire relief efforts.

Minogue took to Instagram to write about the devastating fires, saying “Last year I had the incredible opportunity of visiting some of the many beautiful places in my homeland for the first time. Returning home to such devastation throughout much of the country is heartbreaking.”

Minogue went on to share that as a family, she had donated $500,000 towards “immediate firefighting efforts and the ongoing support which will be required.”

Earlier this week it was announced that Tourism Australia’s Minogue-starring ‘Matesong’ advertisement would be paused in respect to the current bushfire emergency.

“In light of the current situation in Australia, we have reduced some of our campaign activity in the UK. We will continue to review our planned activity over the coming weeks and months,” Tourism Australia told media and marketing site Mumbrella.

“As the Australian Government agency responsible for attracting tourists to our country, Tourism Australia will have an important role to play in highlighting that Australia will continue to be a world-leading and safe tourism destination, whether in unaffected regions or those that will recover from these bushfires in the months and years to come.”

Minogue joins the growing list of other artists who’ve donated to bushfire relief efforts recently. Yesterday, Pink also pitched in $500K to local fire services, while earlier today producer Flume contributed $100,000 to wildlife org WIRES.
