With the 2020 Met Gala unable to go ahead for obvious reasons, Vogue instead held a virtual edition of the annual event. The evening featured Florence Welch, who delivered a breathtaking performance from home.

Welch sang the 2009 Florence + The Machine classic ‘You’ve Got The Love’, after being introduced and welcomed by Vogue’s Editor In Chief, Anna Wintour, to this years ‘A Moment At The Met’.

The performance came exactly a year after Florence took to the stage in person, at the real-life Met Gala, and saw her unveiled in a campaign gown against flowery wallpaper

“She performed at the Met nearly a decade ago, and she very graciously told me that it was one of the most extraordinary moments of her life. I am so touched and so grateful that she has agreed to sing for us tonight,” said Wintour.

At a time when home-based live streams from artists are all too common, Florence manages to stand out from the crowd with her iconic voice, just as she has always done in live performances.

The string of virtual performances for this special edition of the Met Gala also raised money for a coronavirus relief fund started by Vogue and Tom Ford called A Common Thread.

Welch has been keeping busy in isolation too, debuting a home-performed version of a new song called ‘Light Of Love’, an unreleased outtake from her 2018 record High As Hope.
