Foo Fighters Superfan Rick Astley Has Covered ‘Everlong’ & Look It’s Actually Not Bad

Rick Astley is no stranger to love. Or, apparently, Foo Fighters ballads.

The gingernut crooner may be best known for spawning the internet troll’s national anthem ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, but he’s just delivered an acoustic rendition of Dave Grohl & co’s 1997 heartfelt hit ‘Everlong’ that’s worth listening to.

“Sometimes you just have to find a song that’s gonna lift your spirits and put you in another place, and I’ve been doing that a lot recently with music,” Astley explains by way of intro to his YouTube cover. “One of the bands I always go to, believe it or not, is Foo Fighters.”

He then delivers a soulful, stripped-down rendition of The Colour and the Shape cut and tbh you wouldn’t get this from any other guy.

Believe it or not, Rick Astley AKA Dick Spatsley and the Fooies actually go way back. Not only did they team-up in 2017 to treat the crowd at Tokyo’s Summer Sonic Festival for one of the greatest Rickrolls in pop culture history, the Foos also honoured Rick with a cover on Carpool Karaoke, and of course who could forget the time they Rickroll’d the Westboro Baptist Church… twice?
