One Direction Celebrate 10th Anniversary, Prompt Reunion Speculation Once Again

One Direction fans are once again speculating about the band’s return after the band made their first social media post in two years to commemorate a decade since the group’s formation.

Yesterday, the band’s official social media accounts shared an image that reads 10 Years of One Direction along with the caption, “Tomorrow! You and me got a whole lot of history #10YearsOf1D”. The last time the band had posted on their Twitter account was two years ago, similarly commemorating the band’s eighth anniversary.

While plans for the celebration are reportedly to centre around an archival website and video, that hasn’t stopped fans on social media speculating about the band’s return.

To be fair, those hopes are not entirely unfounded. Multiple band members have spoken in recent years about the possibility of the group reforming. Back in April, member Liam Payne told The Sun that 1D had “all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice.”

“There’s a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around.”

Late last year, Payne told Channel 4 he believed the group would reform within the next couple of years. “I think at some point we will get back together. I think we will, for sure.”
