Rock Supergroup The Jaded Hearts Club (Jet, Muse, Blur Members) Announce Debut Album

New rock supergroup The Jaded Hearts Club have announced their debut album You’ve Always Been Here will be released in October, sharing two new tracks ahead of its release.

The band is made up of Jet‘s Nic Cester and Miles Kane of The Last Shadow Puppets, along with guitarists Graham Coxon (Blur) and Jamie Davis, Muse‘s Matt Bellamy on bass and Sean Payne of The Zutons on drums. Phwoar.

Today they’ve shared a new video for their take on The Four Tops’ 60’s Motown favourite ‘Reach Out I’ll Be There’, with Cester on vocal duties. They’ve also shared a rendition of Vera Lynn’s classic ‘We’ll Meet Again’ which sees Bellamy handling vocals.

In addition, the 11-track You’ve Always Been Here will include covers of originals by the likes of The Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye and Peggy Lee.

The group casually came together back in 2017, when Davis was attempting to find a Beatles cover band for his birthday party – but available options were either too expensive or not up to scratch.

“I realised I knew a bunch of half decent British musician friends living in L.A. so I thought I’d ask if they’d come together to form an early ‘60s Cavern-era Beatles band.”

After playing a handful of shows over the next couple of years, Davis and Bellamy eventually put plans in motion for the crew to record an album, focusing primarily on “recording lost classics from the world of Northern Soul, supplemented by their raw, soulful takes on some famous standards from the era,” per a presser.

Davis says the band’s motivations are fairly simple – “It goes back to the purest point of why people started bands in the first place – a group of great musicians getting together to play for fun with no pressure. We’re doing it because we have a bloody good time.”

Listen to the Jaded Hearts Club’s take on ‘Reach Out I’ll Be There’ and ‘We’ll Meet Again’ below. You’ve Always Been Here is out Friday, 2th October.
