‘The West Wing’ Cast Will Reunite For A One-Off Special

The cast of The West Wing will reunite nearly a decade and a half after the show’s final episode for a one-off special later this year.

Set to premiere on HBO MAX, stars Martin Sheen, Rob Lowe, Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, Dulé Hill and Janel Moloney will all appear. The show’s creator Aaron Sorkin is also involved, and will write original exclusive material for the special.

As Deadline reports, the cast will come together for a theatrical stage presentation of ‘Hartsfield’s Landing’, the season three episode in which a fictitious small town in New Hampshire is the site of the first presidential primary vote. Josh (Whitford) obsesses over the result – which typically indicates the winner of that state’s primary – while President Bartlet (Sheen) plays chess against Sam (Lowe) and Toby (Schiff). The special will be shot at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles in October.

The special is in support of voter awareness as part of Michelle Obama’s not-for-profit When We All Vote organisation, and is aimed at increasing participation ahead of this year’s United States federal election.

Obama herself will make an appearance in the special alongside “additional cast members and special guests from the worlds of public service and the arts” which are to be announced in the coming weeks.
