King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard Share New Song ‘Straws In The Wind’ With Wild Green Screen Video

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have dropped their new single ‘Straws in the Wind’. It’s a sprawling, psychedelic cut led by the band’s Ambrose Kenny-Smith on vocals, with its foundation of acoustic guitar and drums ornamented by sitar and flute courtesy of Cook Craig and Stu Mackenize respectively.

The new single arrives alongside a truly inventive video that sees the Melbourne rock hydra-head make full use of a green screen and leaf blower, creating a whirling tapestry that has a joyously retro feel to it. It’s a lot of fun, and you can check that out below.

It’s the third single from King Gizz this year, following up ‘Honey’ and ‘Some of Us’. The band have yet to formally announce their forthcoming new album, but presumably all three will feature.

Last year saw the prolific rockers drop two albums – the bluesy Fishing for Fishies and the thrash metal-influenced Infest the Rats’ Nest.  They’ve also released a pair of movies this year: the live concert film Chunky Shrapnel and a documentary about the making of Infest the Rats’ Nest called RATTY.

‘Straws in the Wind’ marks the first single from King Gizz since longtime drummer and manager Eric Moore departed the band last month in order to focus on his label, Flightless Records.
