Macklemore has shared his ‘Trump’s Over Freestyle’. It’s two and a half minutes of roasting Trump and celebrating his exit from the White House (and social media).
“Trump’s over! He lost,” Macklemore sings through the chorus. “Social media kicked him off. He gone!”
He roasts Trump’s orange complexion, fans, and his reality TV background. But he touches on the realer issues too.
He references the double standards between police handling of the Black Lives Matter protests and the riots that breached the US Capitol building. Also pointing out that there’s still concern over the US’ MAGA rioters.
“We thought 2021 was going to save us/ We thought we were going to love all our neighbours/ We thought COVID was over being contagious/ Nope, America’s still armed, dumb, and dangerous,” raps Macklemore.
Macklemore released his latest album GEMINI back in 2017. We heard in 2019 that he was planning to release a “magic album” of sorts, but we’re yet to get an update that endeavour.
