Taylor Swift Shares New ‘Love Story’ Ahead Of ‘Fearless’ Re-Release

Taylor Swift’s new ‘Love Story (Taylor’s Version)’ has arrived. It’s been thirteen years since the original’s debut, but now with a new Fearless on its way, Swift is working to gain back control over her songs.

Swift announced back in 2019 that she’d be re-recording her discography so she’d be able to take ownership of her masters, following the dispute with Big Machine Records and Scooter Braun.

We put together a whole explainer on it here to give you the backstory.

Now, we have ‘Love Story’, the first taste of Taylor Swift’s new Fearless.

It doesn’t stray far at all from the original. The two songs are the same 3:55 length, with the same lyrics, and sound almost identical — other than a new kind of power in Swift’s vocals.

Announcing the release of the new love story, Swift said, “I’ve spoken a lot about why I’m remaking my first six albums, but the way I’ve chosen to do this will hopefully help illuminate where I’m coming from.”

“Artists should own their own work for so many reasons. But the screamingly obvious one is that the artist is the only one who really *knows* that body of work.

“For example, only I know which songs I wrote that almost made the fearless album. Songs I absolutely adored, but were held back for different reasons. (Don’t want that many breakup songs. Don’t want too many down tempo songs. Can’t fit that many songs on a physical CD.)”

“Those reasons seem unnecessary now,” she wrote, announcing the new Fearless will feature six unreleased songs.

The songs were written by a 16-18-year-old Taylor Swift. She says, “These were the ones it killed me to leave behind.”
