Flying Lotus Shares Double Single From Netflix Anime ‘Yasuke’

Producer Flying Lotus has shared two new singles from the soundtrack of the Netflix anime series, Yasuke. ‘Black Gold’ features Thundercat, a frequent collaborator of Flying Lotus and ‘Between Memories’ features Niki Randa, who has previously collaborated with Mac Miller.

The anime is yet to feature on the platform, but both tracks will serve as the opening and closing themes to the series. Both tracks are currently available to stream.

Created by LeSean Thomas and Studio MAPPA, the show was executive produced with Flying Lotus and actor LaKeith Stanfield, who plays the show’s titular character too.

Flying Lotus has composed the show’s original score.

The series is a “dream project for the producer,” according to the official press release.

“[LeSean] and I talked about being outsiders in anime,” he said. “I was like, ‘Why aren’t more Black kids trying to do this? Why is it so out of the ordinary?’ He was saying that it’s because they don’t have examples.”

Yasuke will land on the streaming platform on Thursday, 29th April. Listen to ‘Black Gold’ and ‘Between Memories’ below.
