Duran Duran To Release First Album In Six Years Titled ‘Future Past’

It’s set to be a big year for Duran Duran. As the English new wave band gear up to release their first record in six years, they’ve also announced their signing to to BMG for all new music, as well as their post-1997 back catalogue, AND have shared the first single from the record too.

The record, titled Future Past, will be out on Friday, 22nd October. It’s going to be a big one, with producers like Erol Alkan, Giorgio Moroder and Mark Ronson credited on the record, alongside Graham Coxon of Blur on guitar, David Bowie‘s former pianist Mike Garson and guest vocalist Lykke Li.

The first single from the record is titled ‘Invisible’. The clip to accompany the single was created by an AI called Huxley.

Prior to the band performing in tribute to the Moon Landing at the Kennedy Space Center back in 2019, the band told NME a bit about what was to be the lead single at the time. It is unsure whether or not they were talking about ‘Invisible’.

“There’s one song so far that’s a frontrunner to be the first single,” keyboardist Nick Rhodes explained. “It’s just so different from anything I’ve heard from us before, or actually anyone else. There’s a dance element to it. The construction of it, the melodic content, the lyrics, some of the sounds… They’re very different for us.”
