‘School of Rock’ Drummer Kevin Clark Has Died, Aged 32

Kevin Clark, who portrayed School of Rock drummer Freddy “Spazzy McGee” Jones in the 2003 film, was killed this week while riding his bicycle.

TMZ is reporting that Clark was struck by a vehicle while cycling in Chicago and rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A 20-year-old woman driving the car was issued a citation by police but not arrested.

School of Rock star Jack Black has since shared a tribute to Clark on social media, sharing photos of the pair both while filming School of Rock together and later on, when Clark was an adult.

“Devastating news. Kevin is gone. Way too soon. Beautiful soul. So many great memories. Heartbroken. Sending love to his family and the whole School of Rock community,” Black wrote.

School of Rock was Clark’s only film role. Following its success, he focused on his music career. In 2018, however, Clark reunited with Black backstage when the latter’s band Tenacious D performed in Chicago. In a since-deleted photo from the evening, JB can be seen wearing a Dreadwolf shirt – one of the bands Clark performed with.
