Linkin Park’s ‘In The End’ Is The First Nu-Metal Song To Pass 1 Billion Streams On Spotify

Linkin Park’s ‘In The End’ has become the first nu-metal track to surpass one billion streams on Spotify. The single was featured on the band’s debut album Hybrid Theory.

The landmark news was pointed out by ChartData on Twitter, and comes after the track’s accompanying video clip also surpassed one billion views on Youtube in early July last year.

It’s not the first time a clip from Linkin Park has passed the one billion mark, with 2003’s ‘Numb’ from the band’s second record Meteora surpassing the landmark number of views back in 2018.

For context, the track now has more streams than Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ (which surpassed a billion streams on Youtube in 2019), Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and ‘AC/DC’s ‘Back In Black’.

Hybrid Theory was certified platinum by the RIAA in 2001, the same year it was released. 20 years on, it’s been certified platinum 12 times over, with over 12 million units sold.
