BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ Clears One Billion Streams On Spotify

BTS have become the first K-Pop act in history to have a single surpass one billion streams on Spotify. The band reached the milestone this week with their 2020 smash single ‘Dynamite’.

According to music statistics Twitter account Chart Data, BTS hit the milestone yesterday on Tuesday, 20th July. They are the first Korean act to reach the one billion mark.

With the milestone comes access to Spotify’s coveted BILLIONS CLUB Spotify playlist, which at the time of writing, currently features 159 songs that have also surpassed the billion streams mark from artists like Harry Styles, Queen, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran and more.

‘Dynamite’ was a track that prior to this achievement, had already smashed records for the 7-piece. It was the first single that they sung entirely in English, which ended up landing them their first Billboard Hot 100 number 1 song. They were also nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

The band’s latest single ‘Permission To Dance’ – another song sung in English – just yesterday saw them replace themselves at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
