Listen To Rebecca Black’s New Project, ‘Rebecca Black Was Here’

To the untrained or the uninformed ear, the thought of listening to a Rebecca Black song in 2021 might not be of interest. But, when you consider ‘Friday’ came out 10 years ago, she was barely a teenager and she’s since been proving herself as an incredibly talented force in pop music, your tune might change.

Enter Rebecca Black’s new project, ‘Rebecca Black Was Here’. The project features six songs, three of which had already been released as singles: ‘Girlfriend’, ‘Personal’ and ‘Worth It For The Feeling’.

Speaking of the project in a statement, Black said, “Not only does it feel like such an incredible emotional release to have what I’ve been working on for the past year and a half out in the world, now is the first time I feel like I’ve proved to myself I can really do this.

“I have spent the past 10 years constantly questioning myself and asking myself if I was really able to ever overcome my own insecurities. Now looking at this project completely finished, I couldn’t be more proud of what I have been able to create with some of the most talented and kind team I’ve known. Truth is, I couldn’t have made this project without having experienced what I have in my past, and I am finally able to celebrate that for myself.”

It’s been a milestone year for Black, with ‘Friday’ celebrating its 10th anniversary back in early February. She marked the occasion by releasing a wild hyperpop remix of the song, with help from 100 gecs, 3OH!3, Dorian Electra and Big Freedia.
