The 411:

Rest For The Wicked is a new project from Aussie music heavyweights Ben Townsend (Ivan Ooze) and producer Tasker, who’s worked with the likes of G Flip, Alison Wonderland, and Tia Gostelow.

The pair have teamed up to create Rest For The Wicked. Their debut single, ‘Bones’ is a truly genre-defying sound that really encapsulates the duo’s respective backgrounds.

Ivan Ooze’s hip hop sensibilities come through in his delivery, although it’s so, so different to anything he’s done before.

Tasker’s production in the indie-pop space shines through too, with an eclectic beat mixed into this dark, ethereal sound. It’s really cool.

“It was written when I was in an excruciatingly hollow state of depression,” says Ben Townsend of ‘Bones’. “The song is about my feelings of being scared to cross over to the other side, the anxieties and unknowingness of death.”

Tasker adds, “It’s okay to not know what you’re doing or where you’re going. It’s okay to fuck up and forgive. There’s nothing wrong with laughing through the misery and crying when filled with joy. Life’s a strange and wondrous mystery.”

Sharing their debut single on Wednesday, 9th June, they’ve already announced shows for this August in both their respective hometowns. You can find the dates down below.

Review:

The duo have kicked things off strong! Their debut single will have you hooked instantaneously. The vocals are hazy and ethereal, while the hook has you singing along after the first listen.

And the production is so good, as could be predicted with Tasker on the project. It combines hip hop principles with an indie-rock sound, but it’s truly genre-defying. We’re so excited to see what Rest For The Wicked has in store for us next.
