Iron Maiden Announce 17th Studio Album ‘Senjutsu’

East End heavy metal icons Iron Maiden have shared details of their upcoming 17th studio album. The record is titled Senjutsu and is due for release on Friday, September 3rd.

Fans got their first taste of the record last week with the arrival of ‘The Writing On the Wall’, Iron Maiden’s first single in more than five years. We now have full details of the record. As the title suggests, the East London sextet looked a bit further east for inspiration this time around. Previous collaborator Mark Wilkinson is responsible for the record’s Samurai themed cover artwork, which features the character Samurai Eddie, who was conceived by Iron Maiden’s main songwriter, Steve Harris.

Recorded in Paris with producer Kevin Shirley (Jimmy Barnes, Joe Bonamassa), Senjutsu is 10 tracks long and runs for close to 90 minutes. It’s Iron Maiden’s first full-length release since 2015’s chart-topping, The Book of Souls. The album is available for pre-order from Wednesday, July 21st.

“We’re all really excited about this album,” lead singer Bruce Dickinson said in a statement. “The songs are very varied, and some of them are quite long. There’s also one or two songs which sound pretty different to our usual style, and I think Maiden fans will be surprised – in a good way, I hope!”
