Australian actor Dieter Brummer has died, aged just 45.

Brummer played heartthrob character Shane Parrish in the long-running Australian TV series ‘Home & Away’ between 1992 and 1996, winning the ‘most popular actor’ Silver Logie in both 1995 and 1996. He also appeared in Underbelly: The Golden Mile in 2009.

As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, NSW Police confirmed that in responding to a welfare check, they found a body of a man inside a home in Glenhaven, Sydney, at 1.30pm on Saturday, July 24.

Police say the death is believed not to be suspicious.

In a statement, Brummer’s family grieved the loss of their “handsome, talented, funny, complicated and beloved Dieter.”

“He has left a massive hole in our lives and our world will never be the same. Our thoughts go out to all of you who knew him, loved him, or worked with him over the years.

“We appreciate you respecting our privacy at this terrible time.”

A Channel 7 spokesman described Brummer as a much-loved cast member who was celebrated by Australian and international audiences for his award-winning performance.
