Bruce Springsteen And Barack Obama Are Releasing A Book Together

Inspired by their Renegades: Born In The USA podcast, Bruce Springsteen and former President Barack Obama are putting their conversations to paper.

The Spotify podcast, launched earlier this year, was described as providing ‘personal, in-depth discussion between two friends exploring their pasts, their beliefs, and the country that they love – as it was, as it is, and as it ought to be going forward’.

For the Renegades: Born In The USA book, the duo will explore this some more. Each edition will feature handwritten Springsteen lyrics, archival material from both careers and annotated Obama speeches.

Set for release on October 26th, Renegades: Born In The USA comes in at a whopping 320 pages.

“On the surface, Bruce and I don’t have a lot in common,” President Obama said when the podcast first launched.

“But over the years, what we’ve found is that we’ve got a shared sensibility. About work, about family and about America.”

“Bruce and I have been on parallel journeys trying to understand this country that’s given us both so much. Trying to chronicle the stories of its people.” President Obama has said.

“Looking for a way to connect our own individual searches for meaning and truth and community with the larger story of America.”

When it comes to the music side of things, Springsteen has remained busy. Recently, he’s popped up on a new collaboration with The Killers – ‘Dustland’ – as well as projects with Bon Iver and Bleachers.

The original Renegades series was produced for Spotify by Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground production company.
