Dizzee Rascal Has Been Charged With Domestic Assault

UK grime pioneer Dizzee Rascal has been charged with assault. The incident occurred in June and the rapper is currently out on bail.

According to a statement from the London Metropolitan Police, Dizzee was apprehended following an incident at a London home on 8th June. Rascal – real name Dylan Mills – is reported to live in Sevenoaks, Kent, roughly 30kms south-east of London. The alleged incident took place at a residential address in the south London neighbourhood of Streatham.

Per the Met Police: “Officers attended and a woman reported minor injuries. She did not require hospital treatment.” Dizzee will appear at the Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 3rd September.

Dizzee’s latest release was the 2020 album, E3 AF. The title is a reference to the rapper’s hometown of Bow in East London. E3 AF was Dizzee’s seventh studio record, coming 17 years after his genre-defining debut, Boy in da Corner. Also in 2020, Dizzee was named an MBE for services to music as part of the annual Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Just last week, Dizzee appeared on the Bliss N Eso single ‘On One’, which will appear on the Sydney trio’s upcoming album, The Sun.

We’ll have more details as the case develops.
