Listen to Tom Morello Cover AC/DC’s ‘Highway to Hell’ with Eddie Vedder and Bruce Springsteen

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has announced he’ll release new collaboration-heavy album The Atlas Underground Fire in October. Guests on the star-studded tracklist include Bring Me the Horizon, Phantogram, Dennis Lyxzén of Refused and more.

To introduce the LP, however, he’s recruited Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, for a cover of AC/DC classic ‘Highway to Hell’.

It’s as huge as it sounds – the blistering new rendition has a ton of “hell yeah” moments, with Springsteen and Vedder trading verses and coming together on its anthemic refrain. Morello’s signature incendiary riffwork on full display, particularly in the song’s latter half, which boasts a killer solo.

“Our version of ‘Highway To Hell’ pays homage to AC/DC but with Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder, brings this legendary song into the future,” Morello commented in a press release. “One of the greatest rock ’n’ roll songs of all time sung by two of the greatest rock ’n’ roll singers of all time. And then I drop a shredding guitar solo. Thank you and good night.”

The Atlas Underground Fire will serve as a sequel of sorts to Morello’s 2018 album The Atlas Underground. It was recorded by Morello at his home studio in Los Angeles during lockdown. “This record was a life raft in a difficult time that allowed me to find new ways of creating new global artistic connections that helped transform a time of fear and anxiety into one of musical expression and rocking jams,” he added.

Listen to Morello, Vedder and Springsteen’s cover of ‘Highway to Hell’ below. The Atlas Underground Fire is set to arrive on Friday, 15th October.
