Australian singer-songwriter Lisa Mitchell has returned with new single ‘Zombie’ and the announcement of her first studio album in five years. While details are relatively slim on Mitchell’s forthcoming fourth studio album, it will follow-up her 2016 record Warriors.
The new song, produced by Tom Iansek of Big Scary and #1 Dads, is a gorgeous, dreamy cut anchored by acoustic guitars and atmospheric textures, with Mitchell’s vocals placed front and centre. In an accompanying statement, Mitchell called the new song “an ode to being alive!”
“To the glory and tragedy of feeling (and thinking!). Feeling can be the hardest thing to do sometimes, but feeling is magically linked with our human superpowers and we need those. Thank god I’m not a zombie!”
‘Zombie’ arrives alongside a stunningly-shot video directed by Ilsa Wynne-Hoelscher Kidd that starts off in black-and-white, Mitchell moving around her house and backyard, before a flush of colour as the songwriter emerges from the water. Check that out below.
To celebrate the new single’s arrival, Mitchell is set to play a pair of headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne in December. See those dates below – tickets are on sale next Wednesday, 6th October.
