Local heavy hitters Heists are back and they’re coming in hot. The Eora-based metalcore outfit have just unleashed their brand new EP Beneath The Surface – an emotionally charged gut-punch of a release that digs deep into the darker corners of the human experience.
Produced by Ionei Heckenberg (Ocean Sleeper), the record balances pure aggression with haunting vulnerability, weaving themes of betrayal, sacrifice, survival and grief into a soundscape that hits as hard emotionally as it does sonically.
Heists – Beneath The Surface
“We wanted to touch on struggles that we all face,” guitarist Guy Vears explains. “Everyone has moments where they’re carrying something heavy, and this EP was our way of exploring those feelings while reminding people they’re not alone in them.”
The singles leading up to Beneath The Surface have already pulled in close to a million streams, showing off Heists’ signature blend of searing breakdowns, skyscraping melodies and meticulous production.
It arrives on the heels of a massive year for the band – from tearing up stages with Northlane, Stepson, The Gloom In The Corner, Ocean Sleeper and Point North, to completing their first national headline tour (including a wild Sydney Harbour emo cruise).
And they’re not slowing down: this November, Heists will hit the road again for their biggest headline tour yet, joined by Outloved, Signals and St.Sinner.
Heists Frontman Chris Zagas says the project marks a defining chapter for the band: “This EP pushed us to grow more than anything we’ve done before. From writing to recording to taking it on stage — it’s the clearest snapshot of who we are right now.”
