One of Australia’s most genre-bending musical exports, Hiatus Kaiyote, are marking a major milestone – announcing a special one-night-only performance at the Sydney Opera House this July to celebrate 15 years as a band.
Set to take place on Sunday, July 12, the show promises a career-spanning journey through the GRAMMY-nominated quartet’s kaleidoscopic catalogue – from their breakout Tawk Tomahawk era through to the lush, exploratory sounds of Love Heart Cheat Code. It’s a rare chance to see the band trace their evolution in one sitting, inside a venue that’s become deeply tied to their story (including that goosebump-inducing orchestral set at Vivid LIVE in 2023).
Hiatus Kaiyote – ‘Dreamboat’
Formed by Nai Palm, Paul Bender, Simon Mavin and Perrin Moss, Hiatus Kaiyote have spent the past decade and a half carving out a lane entirely their own – blending neo-soul, jazz, funk and experimental textures into something genuinely uncategorisable. Along the way, they’ve racked up Grammy nominations, influenced a generation of artists, and been sampled by heavyweights like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé and Drake (casual).
And if you’ve ever seen them live, you’ll know this won’t be your standard “anniversary show.” Hiatus don’t just play songs – they stretch, twist and reshape them in real time, turning every performance into something unpredictable and deeply immersive.
Tickets go on sale April 2, with presales kicking off earlier in the week – and given the “one night only” nature of this one, you might wanna move quickly.
