Australian heavy music fans, prepare for absolute carnage. Legendary US metalcore pioneers Converge have announced their long-awaited return Down Under, unveiling a massive Australian headline tour for March 2027.
The Massachusetts heavyweights will return to our shores for the first time since 2019, bringing more than three decades of genre-defining brutality to stages across the country.
Converge – ‘Hum of Hurt’
And they’re bringing some serious local firepower along for the ride, with Australian powerviolence veterans Extortion and Melbourne metalcore outfit Ends In Tragedy joining the majority of the Australian headline dates.
The tour announcement follows the sell-out of Melbourne’s inaugural Lucidity festival, where Converge are already locked in for an extraordinarily rare performance of their landmark 2001 album Jane Doe in its entirety.
The band will headline the festival on Saturday, 13th March, marking the album’s 25th anniversary with what will be only the third full live performance of Jane Doe in Converge’s history.
The previous two took place at Roadburn Festival in 2016 and Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in 2021, making the upcoming Melbourne performance an exceptionally rare opportunity for Australian fans.
But for those who missed out on tickets, there’s good news.
Converge have now confirmed additional headline performances in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, alongside two shows across the ditch in Wellington and Auckland.
The Australian leg will kick off at Perth’s Rechabite on Thursday, 11th March, before heading to Adelaide’s Lion Arts on Friday, 12th March.
Following their sold-out Lucidity appearance, the band will return to Melbourne for a separate headline show at 170 Russell on Sunday, 14th March, before hitting Sydney’s Factory Theatre on Wednesday, 17th March and Brisbane’s Triffid on Thursday, 18th March.
Texan experimental metal punks Portrayal Of Guilt will join Converge for the additional Melbourne headline show and both New Zealand dates.
The tour also arrives during a particularly prolific period for the influential four-piece.
Rather than spending their 35th anniversary looking backwards, vocalist Jacob Bannon, guitarist Kurt Ballou, bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller have spent 2026 proving that their creative fire remains very much alive.
This year, the band unleashed not one but two new studio albums, Love Is Not Enough and Hum Of Hurt, through Deathwish and Epitaph.
The records explore contrasting sides of Converge’s musical identity, with Love Is Not Enough leaning into their signature metallic ferocity, while Hum Of Hurt embraces a rawer, more emotionally exposed sound rooted in the band’s hardcore foundations.
Of course, Converge’s influence on the wider heavy music landscape is almost impossible to overstate.
Since forming in Massachusetts more than three decades ago, the band have helped redefine the boundaries between hardcore punk, metal and extreme music, building a legacy on uncompromising aggression, emotional intensity and constant sonic experimentation.
Their 2001 masterpiece Jane Doe remains one of the most influential heavy records of the 21st century, with its chaotic arrangements, visceral performances and iconic artwork helping establish a blueprint for generations of metalcore and hardcore acts.
And while the Lucidity performance will offer a rare opportunity to experience that landmark record in full, the newly announced headline dates promise a broader journey through Converge’s formidable catalogue, including material from their two latest releases.
Presale tickets go live on Monday, 9th November at 10am AEDT, before general public tickets go on sale Wednesday, 11th November at 10am local time.
