Muppets Sequel Confirmed

Disney has announced that a sequel to last year’s Oscar-winning film The Muppets has been given the green light.

According to NME, the announcement was made in Las Vegas at CinemaCon on April 24, 2012.

Mashable confirms that director James Bobin is back onboard, as is co-writer Nicholas Strolle. However, fellow co-writer and leading man Jason Segal will not be part of the sequel.

When speaking with CraveOnline, Segal said, “You know, my goal was to bring The Muppets back and I think I achieved that. It was half a decade of my life, and I just want to take a minute to concentrate on more human-related projects”.

2011’s The Muppets won the Oscar for Best Original Song with Man or Muppet and collected in excess of $158 million from the Box Office. It was the first film in over a decade to feature Jim Henson’s Muppets.
