The Roots Confirm 2013 Australian Tour In Time For New Year’s Festivals

The Roots have revealed plans to bring their unequalled live show to Australian shores for a 2013 tour. When a hungry fan tweeted drummer Questlove, asking if they’d be coming Down Under soon, the hip hop legend replied simply that the band “will be in Aussie day after Xmas for a week in 2013.

This will be the first time the hip hop/funk/soul sextet has toured Australia since 2007, when they played the Blues and Roots Festival. The band was scheduled to play the 2009 Good Vibrations Festival but had to cancel due to scheduling conflicts.

After signing on as the house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon the band effectively retired from touring. Fans who missed out on what was seemingly their last chance to catch The Roots live will be amped for the band’s arrival, just in time for the New Year’s festival run; we can see them slotting in nicely at Falls Festival, Field Day or even Pyramid.

No dates or venues are announced yet but the minds behind classic albums like Things Fall Apart and How I Got Over are sure to bring plenty of bang for the punter’s buck.
