The Big Day Out 2014 line up will be officially announced at 8:00pm AEST tonight, Wednesday, 31st July, with the BDO roster touted as “the Big Day Out lineup to end all Big Day Out lineups” revealed right here on Music Feeds, ready for us to start planning that long, hazy festival summer ahead.
As soon as the lineup drops, we’ll have a bunch of exclusive content, including messages from some of the bands set to grace the BDO stages next year as well as interviews with Big Day Out organisers and coverage from the official launch party, so make sure you’re sticking on our website as well as our Facebook and Twitter to catch all the news and exclusives first. In the meantime, check our Big Day Out 2014 Feed for all the latest news.
With the Sydney leg of Big Day Out 2014 reverting to a two-day affair this year, the festival promises not one, not two but THREE headlining acts. BDO CEO Adam Zammit previously revealed that two of those three “have never played an Australian festival”, ruling out hundreds of contenders and throwing the rumour mill into a frenzy.
New Zealand Big Day Out promoter Campbell Smith made things just a little more exciting when he said that the fourth act on the bill was so big, they may as well be a headliner, promising “the best and biggest lineup we’ve ever had”.
Tickets for Big Day Out 2014 have been priced at $185 + booking fee, a $20 increase on last year, but we’ve been assured the price bump is worth it. Presales begin the day after the lineup announcement on Thursday, 1st August through General Pants Co stores, with Big Day Out member presales kicking off the day after. You can get your hot little hands on a membership, which will also let you in on exclusive competitions and other offers, by heading on over to Oztix.
Gold Coast: 9am local time, Wednesday 7th August
Sydney x 2: 9am local time, Thursday 8th August
Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth: 9am local time, Friday 9th August
All signs point to this year being the biggest in the festival’s history. Last year’s event was headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Killers, with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses and The Bloody Beetroots also on the roster. A festival bill with the Chilis on top is always a hard one to beat but we’ll see exactly how the BDO plans on outdoing itself in just a matter of hours.
So go and dig out your best festival attire, slap on some sunscreen, set your heating to 35 degrees and tune in to Music Feeds at 8:00pm AEST tonight for the first lineup announce.
