First turning heads with the release of his airwave-smashing debut EP, YES!, Ghana-born Australian rapper Citizen Kay has returned to cement his status as one of the rising stars of Oz Hip-Hop with his new single, Raise A Glass, featuring the Brass Knuckle Brass Band.
Kay has spent the last six months sweeping through the country, spitting rhymes and dropping his patented beats, which channel everyone from Kendrick Lamar and Jimi Hendrix to Lupe Fiasco and The Sex Pistols, on stages nationwide, meanwhile garnering serious love from Triple J.
His appearance at BIGSOUND in Queensland was the subject of much hype and now Kay has announced that it’s time to say good-bye to the YES! era and welcome the new “age of KAY.” Readers can check out Citizen Kay’s sophomore single, Raise A Glass, below.
