Charli XCX & Troye Sivan Shred On Jet Skis In ‘2099’ Clip

It’s been a busy morning for pop star, Charli XCX. After being announced on the huge Laneway Festival 2020 lineup, she’s today gone and dropped a new clip too.

Last week, Charli XCX released her highly-anticipated debut record, Charli. The record is absolutely stacked with features, with Lizzo, Haim, Christine & The Queens, Clairo & more jumping on.

“The features are all very real and formed from real relationships I have and genuine admirational love for the person and their work,” Charli said in an interview with Music Feeds published last week.

Someone who features twice on the record is Aussie angel, Troye Sivan. He features first on the pair’s smash single, ‘1999’, and the track’s album-closer sequel ‘2099’, which has today copped a cinematic new clip.

The single accentuates Charli’s future-facing pop sound, with Sivan lending his vocals for backup throughout and for a solid solo verse.

The clip, directed by Bradley & Pablo, doesn’t allude to the same kind of futurism that the track does, but it does simmer the track down to a tranquil level, unexpectedly creating a mesmerisingly simpler energy.
