Introducing – Caseno

Local dance label Sweat It Out is a breeding ground for explosive and exciting local dance prospects. A squiz at their roster is an eye-opening affair, sporting the likes of What So Not (Flume & Emoh Instead), Parachute Youth, Twinsy, and DJ maestro Ajax. A name they’ve been itching to get out for some time is Melbourne DJ duo Caseno. They are Sweat It Out’s self-confessed “best kept secret”, and with a roster like theirs you can expect it to be a damn good secret too.

The Melbourne duo consists of top-shelf acid house producer Harris Robotis and ex-We Are Fans member Riccardo Sciarpa. They have already received the blessings of Claude Von Stroke, Horse Meat Disco and Aston Shuffle – to name but a few – after grabbing the attention of local dance royalty via their reworkings of dance classics like Blue Monday by New Order and Vogue by Madonna (both available for free on their SoundCloud). An official remix for Parachute Youth’s latest single Count To Ten followed, which appears on the official remixes EP.

Caseno’s latest single Sebastian is one of those rare tracks that has been showcased to the crème de la crème of the dance world before the rest of the best of us get a chance to add our drool to the growing puddle already engulfing dance floors nationwide. Harris confessed to never having sung before this project formed, but you would never have known. The vocals on Sebastian are rich and smooth, complementing the tropical Caribbean grooves layered effortlessly with jumpy percussion and meandering bass lines. The official remixes have been double-teamed by label mates Indian Summer DJs and Terrace for a different flavour.

Accompanying the track is a funky film clip from French video production outfit Henry de Czar, featuring hot girls doing slow-motion gymnastics and shirtless boys on bikes. Oh, and some cool effects too…
