Coastal NSW troubadour Josh Needs has today unfurled a brand new brooding slice of indie rock in the form of his latest single ‘The Desired’.
Premiering via Music Feeds below, ‘The Desired’ is built on driving, brooding indie rock melodies, undeniable bluesy riffs and earnest vocals reminiscent of the likes of Midnight Oil, Diesel and even early Arctic Monkeys. Thematically, the track takes inspiration from Needs’ own journey of ambition and perseverance in the music industry.
“[It’s] A motivational speech to myself,” explains Needs. “The truth of moving to a new city to pursue a career in music. It’s about dreaming your goals and turning them into a reality, digging deep and working hard.”
‘The Desired’ is the second single from Needs’ forthcoming six-track EP, recorded throughout June and August 2018 alongside Glenn Sarangapany from Birds Of Tokyo. The EP is expected for release later this year.
