PREMIERE: Laura Mac Bust Out The Party Bus For Buzzy ‘Garage Full of Dreams’ Video

Queensland duo Laura Mac – made up of singer Laura Maclachlan and guitarist Zac Connely – introduce themselves with their very fun, very tongue-in-cheek debut single ‘Garage Full of Dreams’.

It’s an infectiously buoyant, sunkissed cut that starts out breezy and gradually ramps up the energy, blistering guitars and Maclachlan’s freewheeling vocal delivery anchored by muscular rhythms underneath. The track is filled out by Ian Peres, formerly of Wolfmother, along with Luke Williams of Dead Letter Circus, who both came on board to contribute instrumentation after hearing early demos.

“You know how some people have to work really hard for things that other people have given to them for free? That’s kind of what this song is about. That and cool cars,” Maclachlan explains.

“I sing about all these cool cars when in reality I drive the world’s most beat up Toyota Camry. When I got the car it was rancid and had 5000 cockroaches in it. It’s clean now but has subsequently been nicknamed ‘The Roach.'”

Maclachlan and Connely are partners both in music and life, with the duo having met one evening at Splendour in the Grass, fallen in love, moved to the Sunshine Coast hinterland and started making music together. “We write all of our music in our big red party bus,” Maclachlan says.

It’s the very same “big red party bus” that stars as the hero of the track’s vibey and energetic music video, directed by award-winning videographer Dan Macarthur (Powderfinger, Killing Heidi, Regurgitator) and which we’re stoked to be premiering here today. Oh and keep your eyes peeled for a cameo from ‘The Roach’ too.

With their first single out in the world, the duo are looking to release a debut EP sometime next year. For now, turn up the volume and watch the ‘Garage Full of Dreams’video below.
