PREMIERE: Listen To The New Single From Perth Indie Rockers Pot Plant House Party

‘Second To Rest’ is Pot Plant House Party’s third single of 2021. The track officially arrives on Thursday, September 30th. We’re premiering it here on Music Feeds.

The track builds on the driving indie rock and punk sound of previous singles ‘Time Machine’ and ‘Late Night Science Fiction’, the former of which received triple j airtime.

Pot Plant House Party worked hard on ‘Second to Rest’, recording the track between Hopping Mouse Studios in Fremantle and Templeman Audio Studios in Leederville. The band called on engineers Matthew Templeman (Sly Withers, Voyager) and Fraser Cringle (Make Them Suffer) to pin down the sound they were looking for.

“ ‘Second To Rest’ was written among a bunch of other tracks at the start of this year,” the band said. “When we eventually came back to it, we chipped away bit by bit to finish off the recording of it and it sounded completely different from the original demo.

“Tackling each part of the recording bit by bit allowed us to spend a lot of time on the song as a whole. If we delved into it straight away, it would’ve sounded completely different.”

PPHP have been taking advantage of WA’s COVID-free status, touring the state in support of Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and sharing the stage with Sly Withers and Gyroscope in the second half of 2020. They also embarked on their own WA headline tour, spruiking their 2020 EP, Sorry I Didn’t Call You Back.

Take a listen to ‘Second to Rest’ ahead of its official release on Thursday, September 30th.
