Smoking Martha

PREMIERE: Listen to Smoking Martha’s Red Hot New Single ‘Liquid Sunshine’

Brisbane rockers Smoking Martha are all big riffs and high energy. On their new single ‘Liquid Sunshine’, which we’re premiering here at Music Feeds before it officially arrives this Wednesday (1st September), the four-piece channel those strong points into a soaring, dramatic cut anchored by frontwoman Natasha Doherty’s powerful vocals.

While the song has some polished production courtesy of Matt Bartlem and Luke Palmer, ‘Liquid Sunshine’ is sonically relatively raw, relying largely on the band’s dynamic musical chemistry and to hold it together. The guitars, rhythm section and Doherty’s voice all lock in together nicely, and the movement from the song’s more understated, somewhat atmospheric verses to its huge, anthemic refrains is very satisfying.

“‘Liquid Sunshine’ is the love of the sea, the sun and the memories of young love over an endless summer,” the band explain. The new single marks the second track Smoking Martha have shared this year, following on from ‘Good Girls’ in July. Both songs are set to feature on the band’s forthcoming second album, the follow-up to 2017’s In Deep.
