Back in 2019, we premiered New Zealand singer-songwriter Solomon Crook‘s open-hearted single ‘The Day I Thought About Dying’. Fast-forward a little under two years, and Crook returns with a similarly arresting track, ‘breathe for you’, which we’re premiering here at Music Feeds before it officially arrives tomorrow, 25th June.
‘breathe for you’ is a stirring new cut from the songwriter, with a relatively sparse, atmospheric arrangement foregrounding his impassioned vocals, slowly building over the course of the song. The emotionality at the heart of Crook’s music is on full display here, with the songwriter’s raw and vulnerable approach making for a truly affecting work.
“I wanted to write a song for those in my life that were struggling, this was my way of saying ‘hold on’, I know you can make it through. And I’m here,” Crook explains.
The new single arrives alongside simple but very effective visuals courtesy of frequent collaborator Oscar Keys – watch that below. ‘breathe for you’ marks the “first chapter” of Crook’s forthcoming EP I & You.
