The Cairos have been doing the rounds for five years. Mixing indie grunge with pop undertones. Heading up to play with good friends Young Heretics at MUM @ World Bar on November 26th, the band gave us a run down on their achievements and grand plans for the new year.
MF: What’s new with The Cairos?
TC: At the moment we are in the midst of a rad tour with our lovely friends Young Heretics of the back of our summer catalogue release. We are also writing like crazy for a release in the first half of next year that will blow peoples minds!
MF: Gives us a history lesson on The Cairos?
TC: Well since about 2005 Alf & Ali have been playing music together under various names. Now turn the clock several times, it’s 2010 and we are one big happy family travelling the country as much as we can, doing what we love with bands that we froth on.
MF: You’ve played with some pretty big names in the last couple of years, (Powderfinger, Julian Casablancas, Temper Trap); who would be the ultimate band to open up for?
TC: If I had it my way I would bring The Beatles back and beg to open for them.
MF: How cool was it winning a Q Encouragement Award this year?
TC: I’d say about a 7 out of 10. We were having cigarettes when the award was announced; if we hadn’t been doing that I’d definitely bump it up from a 7 to a 10 😉
MF: What’s in store for 2011 for the band?
TC: We will have another release out in the first half and hopefully venture overseas at some point. There will also be more touring then ever.
MF: What can readers expect from your show at MUM @ World Bar November 26th?
TC: A race to the stage with Young Heretics and maybe a gangster cover or two and a sweet after party.
MF: What would be the first song you would put onto a mix tape?
TC: Tame Impala – Any song off their killer album
The Cairos play Mum @ Worldbar this Friday 26th November
