A.B. Original Will Feature On The NBA 2K22 Soundtrack

A.B. Original will be joining a cast of hip hop’s heavy hitters as part of the NBA 2K22 soundtrack.

The soundtracks for these games have become super lucrative for artists in recent years, being given a huge global platform to have their songs brought to the games’ loyal player base.

It’s been a hot minute (2018) since we’ve heard new music from the acclaimed duo of Briggs and Trials, so the question is now: is there more new music on the way?

For NBA 2K22, the soundtrack will feature the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Skepta, Travis Scott, Juice Wrld, and Migos. Their music will be featured on in-game menus and in the arenas of the games as well. If you’ve ever poured hours into a game like NBA 2K, you’ll know how quickly the soundtrack can seep into your head.

For the first time too, the NBA 2K22 developers have produced a ‘Producer Series’ – giving aspiring artists the chance to be part of the game through an integrated Beats Pack.

With the Beats Pack, artists will be able to record their best verses over those beats and showcase their own talent in game. With more details still to come on that front, it’s looking like the NBA 2K team are starting to further include music into their wider blueprint for success.

“This year, we are creating a dynamic soundtrack, complete with early access to unreleased tracks, new artists, and opportunities for fans to become part of the experience,” says NBA 2K’s Vice President of Global Marketing, Alfie Brody.

Adds David Kelley, Senior Manager of Partnerships and Licensing, “The opportunity to evolve the experience for players by creating moments where we can debut and share incredible new music is another step toward how we are bringing together the real-world of basketball culture with our game through music.”

Gamers will be able to access new music through ‘First Fridays’, where new cuts will be added to the soundtrack each first Friday of each new season. On it, there’ll be a mix of established and up and coming artists, with names coming to us later this month.

NBA 2K22 itself is available from September 10th – you can stay in the know with more updates coming on their official website.
