Aerosmith Have Binned Claims They’re Replacing Steven Tyler

Aerosmith have been forced to issue a statement saying that they’re not looking to replace lead-singer Steven Tyler.

As Rolling Stone reports, guitarist Joe Perry has spoken out calling any rumour that the band is looking to replace the frontman “completely untrue”.

“All five of us were just on the phone together talking about how excited we are to go to South America and Mexico City,” he wrote.

The statement comes after guitarist Brad Whitford admitted that they considered replacing Tyler after they split in 2009. When asked by Metal Rules whether the band would consider touring with another singer other than Tyler he responded, “Absolutely, we have considered it but whether it will happen I don’t know.”

He further said that he’d like to see anybody from “Myles Kennedy to Axl [Rose]” fronting the band.

Tyler has been on the road promoting his forthcoming country solo album, which also assisted in sparking rumours of his replacement.

Just last month Perry also admitted to Rolling Stone that the band had considered a farewell tour.

“A farewell tour is something we’ve talked about doing for years, let’s say roughly in the last five years,” he said.

“It’s just something the band’s talked about at various times. At this point, the five of us have never sat down and said, ‘It’s time to do it.’ So ‘considering’ is an appropriate word for that statement. A farewell tour is definitely not confirmed.”

Aerosmith have tour dates locked in from September and it’s very unlikely that these will be without Tyler.
