AIR + STYLE, Another Huge International Music Festival, Is Coming To Sydney In 2018

UPDATE: Air + Style Festival’s Australian Debut Has Been Cancelled

ORIGINAL STORY: Sydney is copping yet another Aussie debut from an international music festival next year, in the form of pro snowboarder Shaun White’s AIR + STYLE Festival.

The new Aussie leg of the festival will go down in The Domain in the Sydney CBD next August, combining a snowboarding competition with a music festival over three massive days, in what’s definitely a first for the city.

Yep, you heard right — there will be snowboarding in The Domain. The event will see a massive 16-storey snow-covered ramp right in the middle of the CBD, with 60 of the world’s best skiers and snowboarders competing for top prize.

The music lineup is yet to be announced, but previous AIR + STYLE events have seen performances from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer, Flume, TV On The Radio, Portugal the Man and J. Cole, so the Sydney event is bound to be huge.

“We are going to bring the mountain to the city and take over the Domain with snow, music, culture and tech,” says Shaun White.

“I am so proud of how this has come together — the best snowboarders and skiers in the world, a diverse music lineup and a festival of culture right in the middle of one of the world’s iconic cities. I guarantee a good time will be had by all!”

Having first been held in Austria in 1994, AIR + STYLE has also popped up in Innsbruck, Beijing and LA, and will finally make its triumphant Aussie debut in 2018. What’s more, today’s announcement comes after Sydney recently landed its own version of US festival Austin City Limits, which will come to Australia in 2018 as Sydney City Limits.
